What:
The Green Solutions Competition is a university-wide sustainability-focused competition where participants will come up with solutions and business proposals to improve UCLA's sustainability and help it achieve the University of California sustainability goals.  Participants will form groups of up to 4 and submit their initial solution ideas to GOOD Magazine's GOOD Maker Challenge for public voting.  The Top 10 Solution Ideas from the public vote will then advance in the competition, to create and present a business proposal for their ideas to a panel of judges on June 2.

Who:
Undergraduate students from ALL majors, with minimum 3.0 GPA are welcome to apply.
Students will form groups of four (4) where they will upload their solution ideas to the GOOD Maker.  Teams with the Top 10 Solution Ideas will then move on to create their business proposal and present their solutions to a panel of judges.  From April 18 to 27, 12:00PM(PST), submit your project ideas to the GOOD Maker Challenge.  Be sure to include your names, emails, class levels, and GPAs of you and your group members.

A business proposal workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 2 from 5pm-8pm at the Career Center, Room 200, 2nd Floor.  Professor Abe from the Anderson School of Management will share tips and guidelines on how to write and present the business proposal for the presentation day on June 2.  At least one member from each group must attend the workshop.  The workshop is limited to Competition Participants, but if you would like to attend, send us an email (listed below) with your name, major, and year.

  • STAGE 3: Presentation Day: June 2, 9am – 3pm

All groups will present in the first round, in a 3-pool format (3 teams per pool).  The winners of each pool will advance to the next round.  Winners of the first round may adjust their presentations before entering the final round.  The overall winner will be announced following the second, final round.  Presentations will be judged on a variety of criterion, including overall analysis, feasibility, cost, short term impact, long term implications, and most importantly, overall environmental impact.
